Supporting Families Programme

The Supporting Families programme for 2022-2025 (formerly known as Troubled Families from 2012-2021)

Supporting Families Programme

The Supporting Families programme has three primary objectives:

Supporting Partners: We aim to assist our partner organisations in implementing the Early Help Assessment and Early Help Plan, which includes assessing the entire family's needs. We encourage our partners to embed this approach within their own agencies service.

Accredited Practitioners Team: We have a team of Accredited Practitioners from a multi-agency background who are dedicated to supporting our partners in adopting this whole family working model to enhance the connection and effectiveness of our services for families.

Training and Learning: We offer a two-day training programme for our partners to develop their skills in whole family support.  Additionally, we provide various training packages through our Learning Zone for partners who have already joined our Liquid Logic Partner Portal case management recording system.

On 5th and 6th December, Angie Naaman from the Supporting Families Team trained ten Police Community Support Officers and three Police Constable Beat Managers from Nottingham City.  Attendees were trained in the ‘Supporting Families’ methodology which included, how to engage with vulnerable individuals and their families, how to deescalate a situation, how to ask challenging questions, how to build trust and confidence and how to link with different agencies to get help.

One attendee described how they learnt, ‘new techniques for positive engagement with children and adults’ and another, ‘found the exercise of gaining information about what people are close to them and who they would go to for help was very useful’.
