The Mood & Food Café is a drop-in space for young people aged 12-17 to share and discuss wellbeing experiences. Running alongside the café, we have a 7 week programme supported by Mental Health Support Teams aimed at young people to learn skills on how to deal with emotions and a chance to connect with others!

About the Programme

The Mood and Food Wellbeing Café is a 14‑week, referral‑based wellbeing programme delivered in partnership with the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to provide early, targeted support for young people ages 12–17 experiencing challenges such as anxiety, low mood, stress, self‑esteem difficulties & more. The programme offers a safe, inclusive group setting where young people can access timely mental health support while developing practical strategies to manage emotions and improve overall wellbeing, helping to bridge the gap created by long waiting times for specialist services.

Programme Structure

The programme includes a structured 7‑week MHST group intervention focused on evidence‑based wellbeing topics, followed by 7 weeks of supported drop‑in sessions that allow young people to practise and embed the skills they have learned.

What Sessions Include

Alongside therapeutic input, sessions include wellbeing‑focused activities such as cooking, creative work, team games, and sports to encourage engagement, peer connection, and confidence building. Young people who complete the programme receive certificates from both MHST and the Adolescence Youth Development Team, recognising their commitment and progress.

Partner Agencies who have identified the need for the individual’s attendance can refer via our referral form, young people can also refer themselves this is known as a self‑referral.
