Alongside the joy that the arrival of a baby can bring, every parent or carer can also experience the anxiety of this sudden responsibility. The sleepless nights, the doubt, the questions – these are all natural and common experiences during the 1,001 days from conception to a baby’s second birthday.

All families need some help to give their babies the best start in life. Whether it is from healthcare professionals or volunteers, family or friends, there is a wide range of support and services available in Nottingham.

The Start for Life offer provides information and links to support that is available when families need it, from conception to the baby’s second birthday.

Safer Sleep for babies - advice for parents and carers

The Lullaby Trust has developed a guide for parents and carers with lots of information and advice about safer sleep.

This safer sleep advice gives simple steps for how you can sleep your baby to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) which is commonly known as cot death. It can give you the peace of mind to enjoy this special time.

It is important to remember that this sleep advice should be followed for all sleep periods, not just at night, and wherever you put your baby to sleep, including at grandparents / friends houses.

There is also a series of videos:
